Paul and others-

Apologies if this has been covered here. It appears that AMD's CPU designs compute more efficiently, for a given clock speed, than does Intel's. Is this in general true? And if so, what is it about the AMD design that has netted them this particular technology lead? Can it be summed up in a paragraph for those not so familiar with CPU design?
