If I recall my Biblical history, and I may not do so correctly, the writers of Mark and Matthew weren't actually the apostles who went around with him. They either were written by different Marks and Matthews, or they were written based on things Mark and Matthew were reputed to have said. But my memory is fuzzier than it should be. Senior moments, I fear.
