David--I can handle eating lots of fruits and vegetables.
I eat very low fat and lots of fish and so forth. I could even stop eating fresh baked bread (rough sacrifice that one) to maintain a yeast free diet. But no wine or beer? I have a bad feeling that they would be on the banned list.
The loss of beer would dent my pleasures of watching baseball with my father and take some fun out of fishing trips with friends. The loss of wine would tear the fabric of my social life. Better a yeasty death than a lonely one.
I am mindful of a realization I had many years ago in a health food store. They sell mostly pills. Pills to such a level that if you were to follow the guidelines of those recommending them, you truly wouldn't have room for food.
My suggestion for diet is eat low fat (that tends to eliminate most meats on the shelf), not too much protein, exercise very regularly, drink a beer with your friends and share some wine with your girl friend (or boy friend). I just got some routine blood work done and did great, everything normal and quote: "Cholesterol 160--excellent.
All the Best
