Just after that post, AMZN fell further to about 50 in the next couple of days. I received about a dozen hateful e-mails (from different people) blaming "people like me" for their losses. In one of these e-mails the person included my real name and address. Nothing personally threatening was said but the hidden message was "I know who you are and where you live". That was quite a wake up call. I thought, my god, what will it be like when the real bear market hits? That's why I stopped using my e-mail address -- best to remain anonymous.
You know kissy, I usually find you somewhat amusing but this is really so ridiculous I'm going to have to comment.
I use my own name here and correctly predicted an absolute massacre of software stocks last year starting in September. It was a real, major move, where stocks actually did lose 75% of their value - psft from 60+ to 13, etc. - not a bunch of silly short term downticks like you get all ballyhood about. People that participate on SI (who also use their real names), some of which were founders of companies like Vantive and others, lost up to 20mm $$. I was in the industry so when I posted this bearish stuff some people took notice, which is not to say I had any effect but I was never a complete alarmist like you are so it certainly meant more to someone who was sitting on the fence than if I were constantly crying about overvaluation from day one.
I only had a difficult time with one person (ibexx) and thats because she has some kind of ego or personal problem whenever anybody challenges her views. I never got any hate mail... a few people on the threads tried to discredit me and that was it.
So, if you are getting hate mail as you claim... it must be your personality kissy! Because I doubt very seriously the inet sector will get crushed like software, that was truly a paradigm shift (to use an overused term), where the internet actually displaced the entire software business.
BTW its pretty hard to see these things when you are right in the middle of them. |
