This is the most significant recent announcement: multichannel.com ATI Video card: about time. We've been waiting some 7 years for this ?!? Can I use a cheap PC, or must I need a Pentium III to accelerate audio encode and another decoder card to do simultaneous video & audio decode ? :-) So it looks like, once again, Carnac's predictions have proven correct. The digital VCR (or PVR) is the hottest thing to come along in a while. Forget D-VHS, DV 6mm or 8mm, and DVD-RW for this application. Forget about HDTV. Think smaller and less.
