I know what you mean. I have had some friendships end in ways that seemed at the time--and still do--utterly bizarre. On the other hand, there was one friendship that I thought had ended because of a nasty and senseless quarrel. After several years, the friend and I met again at a social function. She confessed that she had been too embarrassed by her behavior and too concerned that she had alienated me to call. I laughed and said that I had feared having my head bitten off so I hadn't called.

A friendship restored and strengthened.
