Again, I have been fortunate. In the case I cited, although she has since moved far away, we touch by telephone and by letters.

Another friend with whom I rarely speak as not only does she live in California but also she works crazy hours is the kind of friend one can pick up the thread of the friendship immediately, following some updates. We understand each other in that fundamental kind of way.
