If anyone HAPPENS to know -

My W95 machine frequently forgets where I have the icons positioned on the desktop. At startup, sometimes it goes back to a previous arrangement, or loses it completely and puts them all in rows on the left side of the screen.

Is this in the registry, or is there another file that contains this info (and hopefully not much else) that I could back up and restore?

Is there maybe some other file that loads or shuts down Windows, that may be corrupted? I could extract a clean copy from the Windows CD instead of reinstalling the whole works.

This obviously impacts my productivity and causes me great personal concern :o)
