Hi FredE,
Re: Ducks and other Decoys
I, too, find this penchant for ego-gratification by our fearless leader to be a key indication of hubris and a jejune attitude toward the cause at hand. Of course, since the cause at hand is primarily settop boxes used for the idle entertainment of the vacant-minded, maybe it is all of a piece. Maybe we need to adapt a 'don't worry, be happy' attitude. Somehow, I doubt that Mr. Market sees it this way. At this point, my trailing stop on this yoyo of a stock is getting tighter and tighter. There are so many more appealing and interesting companies out there that still seem to be focused on the future. Not on the follies of the arena.
Fred, recalling you castle story, you may also recall the chap who ran MicroMuse for a number of years. I believe it was a Lamborgini that he ran into the farmhouse when he lost steering on a rain slicked road. A too literal interpretation of 'buying the farm'. Fortunately, the company survived his untimely demise.
