OK, since you asked.
I've deleted about 3 or 4 posts explaining it, but thinking I didn't want to seem to far out there. (This one is still too long <sigh>)
My wife and I believe the following.
Christ was a prophet, the same as Muhammad, Joseph Smith, Moses, and Abraham.
We believe there is only one God, but he is so great that the human mind cannot comprehend him. Hence, he appears to prophets, and the prophet is a translator to the rest of us. But even the prophet misses most of God. Its the proverbial looking at an elephant with a microscope.
We don't believe God is capable of love, or hate, or any other human emotion. He created us basically because he was bored. So, we are one of thousands of ant hills across the Universe that he shows up at from time to time, and pokes with a stick to stir up.
Likewise, there is no good or evil. I don't know how many arguements I've gotten into with people because I said that evil things happen because God wants lessons to be made to the people.
However, we do believe in afterlife, but a reincarnationist bent of one. When you die, you rejoin God for a period of time.
When you are reborn, you acheive a status based on your accomplishments in your prior life. If you were "good", and acheived more than you should have by station of birth, then you get a good life. And it is harder to be "good" and acheive more than your station when born into a good life than a bad life.
So you yo-yo back and forth between these throughout your lives. There is not ultimate goal like salvation, because we are only ants to God. But it is better to achieve and be reborn into good lives, then fail and be reborn in some 3rd world hellhole.
Even I find it confusing as hell. The worst part is, that this came to me in revelation. I struggled with whether or not there was a God for several years, but then one night, bang, I thought this up (sober I might add :-P) and it has been the apex of my spiritual belief for the last decade.
I explained it to my wife when we were dating, and it made perfect sense to her (that's why I knew I had to marry her.)
Everything I believe is based on empirical observation. Reincarnation exists because, in the universe, all things are conserved. Matter transfers perfectly into Energy, etx.
If you have any advice, we'd love it. We just want to find a close fit in a church, doesn't have to be perfect. We've been "put out" of most the main stream churches around here, and I p*ss off the new age dope smokers at the liberal churches. |
