Hi Ho Silver ... Away!' said the masked man as he rode off into the sunset

Even though I had a complaint to SI written up and ready to go, upon reflection, I decided not to proceed. In addition to finding that route personally distasteful, I don't think it would solve anything on a permanent basis. My thinking was as follows:

Being retired, and having time on my hands while watching my stocks, I spend a great deal of time following the Y2K and precious metals news sources. Even though it was time consuming and of no benefit to me, I tried to post portions of a few of the better ones with links each day for those were too busy to root them out. I often didn't agree with everything in the articles, I just felt that some of the content was important enough to bring to the attention of the group.

Unfortunately, I find that the quality of the SI threads in general and the Y2K threads in particular, has deteriorated over the last few months. Not to say there are still not some great posters, but frankly, it is getting too time-consuming to wade through all the crud and silliness, and that effort outweighs the benefits. I have also noticed with regret the increasing number of people that have quietly left these threads.

So this will be my last SI post for a while, perhaps for good. I must admit that in the past three months, I have quietly stopped reading SI for a few days at a time for similar reasons, so this is not a sudden decision, nor is it based on the actions of one individual. At my age, if it isn't fun any more, it just isn't worth doing.

Sorry for rambling, but I thought some explanation for my departure was necessary.

Take care everyone ... May Y2K be kind to all of you.

John
