thread,

Good news for RAMBUS.

looks like that register story was in error(what else is new):

Update on Intel i820 mobos
09/09 06:17 PM - Kiran Venkatesh Category: Motherboards
Source: Email

An anonymous source sent me an e-mail contrary to The Register report that I posted earlier along with some other goodies:

The CC820 is called the Cape Cod, and will use PC100 NOT PC133 DIMMs... Other than that, it is essentially identical to the VC820 board. The i820 chipset does NOT support PC133 SDRAM, only PC100...
The Fairbanks board (FB820) is still in development. It's planned to be an NLX form factor board, and will use RAMBUS RIMMs, as well as onboard ATI Rage Pro graphics.

Release date (for Coppermine processors at 533, 600, and possibly 700 [667 or 733 also possible], Vancouver board, and Cape Cod board) is 27 Sep, '99. An 800Mhz chip should ship by mid-October.

regards,

Kash
