Robert i agree and disagree...

agree - yes , the net will change everything...i believe dell computer is thrilled about the net, look how much it sells there everyday...same with the gap, and many established retailers...

disagree - amazon...its losing money and i don't believe the brand name is all that established amongst the masses...
we have two large bookstores in toronto that have web sites now...the way i see it is the people in my province, Ontario, who live in small towns or don't get out much will end up dealing with these sites...similarly, barnes and noble customers will deal with bn...its very very early in the internet...there may be new companies that clean up on it, but the established ones may not be around...sears was the early biggie in large dept stores...now walmart is king...

as for gold ? i dunno...i am giving it till early 2000, if it doesn't work out, i will give up the yellow metal...in the meantime, i hedge all my abx shares with covered calls and this gives me add'l income while i wait...there may be a short squeeze in gold. if not, not...

lol
