Don, thanks for the info...this is btw. very good. there has to be a big spread between short and long rates in Japan to allow the banks to dig themselves out of the hole they're in. in the fullness of time the BOJ will come to realize that the economy will benefit from the combination of high long term and low short term rates. i also applaud their decision NOT to monetize the governments debt. they have to keep that particular weapon for the day the U.S. asset bubble deflates. regards, hb
