Akula,
I think that it is very sad. One of the arguments that I have seen is that evolution isn't proven because it is just a theory and therefore shouldn't be taught in schools. In fact, there is ample evidence that evolution is real, it is just the mechanism that is in question. I would pull my child out of any school that made the decision to not teach evolution.
