SOME BACKGROUND ON ACLN LTD

The company is presently servicing six
countries in the Middle-East and North
and West Africa, namely, Egypt, Tunisia,
Guinea, Angola, Ivory Coast and Nigeria.
Two more countries, Benin and Ghana, are
being added this year and presently two
more will be added in 2000 (they remain
nameless at present, for competitive
reasons).

These countries are presently experiencing
rapid annual GDP growths in the order of 6%
and the emergence of a middle-class has
created a significant and rapidly increasing
demand for cars (in other words, food and
shelter have been taken care-of, so next on
the shopping list is a "set of wheels" !).

The company charters ferries for transporting
the vehicles but has plans to purchase two of
their own, next year.

The cars come from a huge area of auto
dealerships in the Brussels/Antwerp area
of Belgium. These are primarily used cars
of Japanese origin which tend to be
supported by the present limited automotive
infrastructures in the customers' countries.
Customers normally fly there from their home
countries, buy a car then arrange transportation
for their cars back to the home country with ACLN
who then takes care of transport to the port
of Antwerp, customs clearances, loading onto
ACLN-chartered ferries and delivery to the
customers' destination ports where the fees are
collected (all transactions in US$).
