How can this be bad for MU?
MU got their $500M from Intel.
MU dragged their heals with developing RDRAM.
MU is just starting to sample RDRAM, so I would
guess most wafer starts are sync and has little risk in
RDRAM and will not get serious until 2000. They were the same way with 128M/ first time for industry to go to 2x
rather than standard 4x size increase and the costs on 128M are harder to drive down than just continuing to shrink 64M.
Micron is an expert at this, so they are in the best position of any company. Ok so, Samsung is making a profit right now especially selling Tft panels but I think Micron is still well positioned for the current quarter that they are in and the next.
When the market throws up on RDRAM and the demand is even more sync, Micron will be well positioned to take advantage of this. I have to believe a profit will come.
