I don't quite understand the question--do
you mean to point out the Hoechst "puts",
where HMR is obligated to purchase Ariad
stock at those much higher prices? If so,
yeah, there will be money coming in from
Hoechst for a couple more years, LaMarche
did point that out when I called and got
my scolding;-)

Actually, that brings up a point--I suggested
three alternatives for Ariad now, limp along
with continued poor financing, sell ARGENT,
sell the whole company--but there are many
better options for long term investors.

Now it has twice been pointed out to me that
ARGENT in the hands of Hoechst would be a real
waste, so I don't see Ariad selling out to
Hoechst. The odds are probably stacked against
Biogen buying Ariad, unless Berger and Gilman
make up, which would be really great for everybody.
And of course we have that Amgen rumor which puts
ARGENT at a value of over 100M, maybe Amgen could
take the whole thing.

But let me propose a fourth alternative: Why cant
Ariad do a rights offering--raise cash from the
shareholders, seems like that could raise enough
for Ariad to brige the gap til a parner is found.
OR what if Ariad did a little debt--I cannot believe
that in the age of free internut money, that the
BOD could not go up in front of the right people
and get some debt.

Final thought for tonight...my shift is almost
over, time to log off and go home...

with your own investment naiveté, the rest of us are more
shocked than befuddled, because we DO understand the science
and we KNOW that Ariad's current near collapse is due to
factors more than simply management misdeeds or financial
screw-ups.

Gosh, I hope it wasn't something I said, heheh. All kidding
aside, this is an interesting comment from Pirkal. Is there
something besides the toxic that has plagued the price of
the stock? I've always assumed that was what put all the
pressure on the price--what else could Pirkal have meant?
How are the mice and monkeys doing? How is everthing at
Genovo? Can we expect a mid year shareholder letter?

Any guesses as to who Pirkal is? He writes well, and has
a command of the science, plus arrogant--probably a PhD,
and he certainly owns shares. An insider--maybe LaMarche
himself? Anybody think Berger has ever posted? Well if
I made 300k a year, I would not spend much time on
Yahoo, but you never know.

If the scientists cant handle my frequent queries and
speculations, I suggest they start up a usenet group--
alt.biotech.stocks.jerks. (yeah, my feelings did get
bruised a little bit over on Yahoo).
