You are serious.

>>Now, now, when was the last time one needed to agree with the politics of a VP candidate?

On certain issues, always. His father became pro-life in 1980, tacit to his nomination as Veep. Witless could never finesse it, never pull it off. You have no idea how she has gone out of her way to antagonize these people. I believe she even flouts the 80% who want to outlaw partial birth abortions.

>>She'll mute the mainstream media on abortion

Never. They'll use the obvious conflict to divide the Reps. Bush leads in NY now. He'll lose it with Witless. In NY the Rep needs the Conservative line to win - every statewide election since 1970. Forget about that. They'd accept a moderate on abortion - which she is not.

You do know that every voting study done on voting in Presidential elections has shown that only a small % vote solely on the abortion issue and that among those that do, it's a net plus for the candidate espousing the pro-life view.

>>and play up her tax cuts and the good they've brought to NJ

That's ancient history. She's just another big spender now. Ask some people who have endured her - heck, ask the majority who voted against her re-election!

>>Bush may win either way, but with her, he's a lock.

That cannot withstand analysis. She's poison - she'll guarantee a revolt. Bush would be reduced to having to rely on Gore to self-destruct with that lamer aboard. If Bush is savvy, he'd use her as a pawn - throwing her over the side - to buy Buchanan (whom I revile) off.

Aside from the abortion issue, Witless would confirm to many that the Republican party is once again in thrall of the Rockefeller Reps. I cannot conceive of any Veep prospect who could inflict more self-injury and consequential damage to the Rep party than her.

Any bets that he doesn't pick her? Gore is very poorly regarded in California, my hope is that Bush chooses a westerner.
