Paul, welcome back. You have certainly made up for lost time. The K6 is indeed a Pentium MMX killer. Same speed, cheaper. Sounds good to me and to the 5% or so base of hobbyist techie types who current have a Socket 7 mobo and are not afraid to pop open their chassis for an easy upgrade. The problem stems from availability. Because of the limited availability, all K6s sell right now for a bit of a premium above the 1000 unit cost. By the time prices come down, Intel would have made their quarterly price cut (May 1, no?) and squeezed the differential. Large OEMs have the Intel roadmap, so are understandably timid about whether AMD can maintain their pricing advantage. Me, I guess I'll have to wait a couple more months for a new Socket 7 processor.
