okay, here's what i see...

when i reboot and press F8 at the 'starting windows 95' message, i then select 'command prompt only'. at the C:\> prompt i enter the command 'copy e:\extract.exe c:\ and the response i get is 'invalid drive specification'. (btw, the only way i can get out of there is not with exit or esc but by using ctrl+alt+del.)

now if i use the 'restart in ms-dos mode' choice in the shut down dialog, i get a 'device driver not found:MTMIDE01' and 'no valid cdrom device drivers selected' message. if i enter the above 'copy' command here at the C:\WINDOWS> prompt i get a 'file not found' message.

i'm far from being the sharpest knife in the drawer with these things. any basics you feel you can provide will be helpful. i doubt that i am very far away from being able to extract and copy this kernel32.dll file from the win95 cd-rom. i just ran into this tiny little BRICK WALL at the onset. <g3>

continued thanks...

:)
