A couple of thoughts on Novell . . .

Why is Novell involved with ENTU instead of VRSN, the market leader? It could be that the ENTU customer base fits Novell's plans better right now than VRSN's. ENTU does not sell a prepackaged, fully serviced PKI product. Instead, it provides the means by which businesses can customize their own product. In other words, ENTU must be selling to large corporate customers with the wherewithal to adapt the system to their specific needs. This tends to confirm that Novell's NDS/security efforts will be aimed at this market segment first.

Single sign-on . . . I'd like to see IDX get the biometric option in the Novell single sign-on, but it has occurred to me that single sign-on is somewhat of a mixed blessing for the biometric companies. If you are selling your fingerprint reader as a substitute for multiple and often forgotten passwords, don't you find yourself competing -- just a little bit -- with a single sign-on product promising the same thing? I agree that biometrics has other advantages, but the spread of an effective single sign-on solution could reduce demand for biometrics at this stage of the game.

By the way, RTQ shows volume and upward price movement coming into the stock . . . seems similar to last Friday. IDX has hit $9.50 and is now at $9.125 with over 100K shares traded. High numbers on the bid and ask, also.
