Paul,

Compaq server volumes will be much greater in the Intel
space, that's a given. However, for high-performance
their Wildfire platform is set to roll in a couple months
with 700+ EV67 (21264A).

Wildfire comes alive late next year early 2001 with
21364.. point to point CPU to CPU 12 Gig/sec CPU to CPU.
Glueless SMP, i.e. "built-in" chipset. Real cheap servers.
Wildfire is a natural but very nicely priced 4 CPU servers
with 21364.

<And guess where Compaq is concentrating their Server efforts >

Quite a few backlogged orders on Wildfire. Test systems
at several sites. Up to 32 processors initially.. 256
in a year or two. Obviously much higher bandwidth and
performance than Intel servers for quite some time.
McKinley at least.

Merced on down will be positioned as mid-range solutions.
