With all due respect, I don't think you could have recorded this without knowing about it ahead of time. Tivo acts a lot like a regular VCR, in that it will only record programs that you tell it to before they are being broadcast. In other words, Tivo cannot go back in time, like a true video-on-demand system would. In my opinion this is the single largest limitation of this technology, independently of how cool it is when compared to a traditional VCR. When true video-on-demand finally becomes available over broadband digital networks (which are being rolled out aggressively as we speak), in my humble opinion PVR technology will be quickly eclipsed. I welcome thoughts and arguments on this subject.
