He probably would have thrown up on stage. Throwing up on stage is not a good thing. But it happens.
Once in Androcles and the Lion, one of the beggars got sick on stage, luckily he had a container as a prop, he just threw up in it and kept on going. It was tough on the rest of the cast and the audience was pretty grossed out too, but he was very proud of himself.

Another time, in the comedy, DOn't Drink the Water, my ex was on stage when the person he had a scene with just ran off in the middle of it, holding his mouth, leaving Jimmy standing there adlibbing. The other guy had the flu; he went and threw up and came right back on. I think Jimmy said something like, "I told you not to drink the water" which was really very funny. It happened several times, and by the end of the show, all the actors had incorporated it into their lines and it was a running sight gag, poor Bill running off the stage, hand over mouth.
