Rande,

What do you think about the top-tier exec. switch-a-roo with AOL and Sun?

Seems Marc Andreessen (formerly of Netscape) is no longer chief technology offer - stepped down to be a "strategic advisor". Top-tier exec from Sun filled his shoes. Trying to figure out if this article is mostly spin to put on a good face or if it is really trying to tell us something else. Says that Andreessen also excerised almost 1 million shares of AOL on 8/16 prior to "switching". One quote I found interesting:

Long-term, the loss of Raduchel could help Sun, rather than hurt it, Kunstler said. The company now has a strong ally in a top position at Netscape. Raduchel could help sway AOL executives to adopt more of Sun's hardware and software -- as well as Sun's technology philosophy.

"Going to AOL isn't exactly going to the darkside," Kunstler said, in a reference to Sun's archrival Microsoft Corp (MSFT: news, msgs).

Kunstler says Sun's relationship with Novell Inc. got stronger once Sun chief technology officer Eric Schmidt -- 14-year Sun veteran -- left for the chief executive's post at Novell in April 1997.
