It does seem weird to say money=speech. But the changes I have seen proposed would do more harm than good. If you belong to a pro-life group or the NRA, or a pro-choice group or an environmental group, your donation to that group helps to get out the message that you align yourself with. All the ideas for changing the system I've seen would limit these group's activities. How else is an average citizen going to get his views aired?
