The peircing of body parts is simply a fashion, not sadistic, satanic, or disrespectful. Is if really any more unhealthy than the incredibly tight clothing worn in the 70's and 80's? People of my generation respect ourselves and those deserving of respect. Our subculture is very different from the mainstream and those that practice it are met with the disgust of adults. So many adults simply dismiss us as hoodlums that we don't respect our elders on sight. If you go to a high school and call a person sadistic, do you really expect respect? This "disrespectful" attitude is a defense mechanism. I do not know if generation gaps have always been this large, but many adults show a lack of common decency for us. Do unto others . . .
