If its a book of fairy tales, why don't they just ignore it? Precisely for the reasons I mentioned. Because the zealots won't allow them to, and they have succeeded in establishing an overweighting to the bible vs. other aspects of religion, jmo. As I say I think some of it may have to do with the uncertainty of the creation of the universe, or a lack of ability on the part of some leaders to understand the physics behind it (which would be necessary if the creation of the universe were paramount to religious dialogue - we'd have a whole different set of leaders)... vs. a book that is pretty straightforward in comparison. I have nothing against the bible, I just think its a myopic view of all of life and space. I'm not trying to discredit it, just applying relevance.
