A UN tour of Dili shows desolation. Meanwhile, Bill C has just finished his speech to the dignitaries in Auckland. Said all the right stuff! If he'd asked me to write his speech, I couldn't have done it better. Jiang sure got the message that they better not try to do to Taiwan what Indonesia has done to Timor.

He sure enough told Indonesia that they have made a mistake. We can expect Australian/New Zealand troops and others to be landing in Timor without opposition, under UN auspices, to supervise a transition from a desolate mess to an independent country. The USA has recognized that there is more to Timor than an insignificant nowhere. It took a while!

The Indonesian army, disguised as 'militia' has murdered thousands and destroyed a city. They need to be restricted to their cage by the rest of the world. Same thing for China. If they move a muscle towards Taiwan, simply nuke Beijing! Taiwan is NOT in any significant sense of the word part of the PRC. Taiwan is NOT stealing a lot of resources, which could be an argument to stop independence in some places - suppose for example a herd of Bedouin living in the desert declared independence because they happen to be living on top of the world's biggest oil field. The country would rightfully accuse them of simply trying to get away with the crown jewels.

In this regard, one could argue that Kuwait should more sensibly be part of Iraq because it is an artificial enclave, carved out by the British, living in huge wealth while the rest of the area lives in penury [mostly due to Saddam's thuggery]. Not that I'm advocating that while there is a clutch of criminals running Iraq.

New Zealand, Australia and USA botched Timor for 25 years since Portugal had their 1974 revolution, selling the Timorese down the river into a far worse colonialism than they ever experienced with the Portugese. They have been murdered 10,000 at a time for 25 years. The primary reason was the 'communist' worries because Fretilin freedom fighters were 'communist'. NZ/Aust/USA didn't like that, as though a few hundred thousand impoverished 'communists' in Timor would be any threat. NZ is communist enough if some reds under the beds are wanted. The government here spends half the money for It's sake! And still owns alls sorts of means of production and distribution.

Let's hope all that nonsense is finished and can be buried along with the latest thousands when the smoke has cleared.

Clinton emphasized how the new industrial paradigm is NOT big oil and the old way of doing things. It is now the technological revolution which must be made way for across the world. China should not try to get wealthy from steam engines, diesel engines and the polluting technologies, but from the technological products and civilization.

He meant Qualcomm and Globalstar products folks!

Kaching!!

Mqurice [the puters are not good enough yet for me].
