Dear Jeffrey, EVERY DAY IS APRIL FOOLS DAY ON SI!

Congratulations on your marvelous prank with "TechniClone, Inc.: The Next Intel". It was clever and educational, without being vicious. Thank you for taking the initiative to "Send in the Clones!"

Several other threads on SI offer similarly amusing scenarios, but with the poignant difference that real people are still throwing real lifes' savings into them. A few that I've stumbled across:

"COPYTELE - Another Xerox in Future" (sic): Subject 7038
The only product this company has sold in >13 years is its own stock, but they recently announced a major licensing agreement for the sales of state-of-the-art "magic telephones" to Bedouins in Tunisia.

"NVID - The Next Lysol": Subject 5573
As their video rental scheme was collapsing, the operators behind "Network Video International" made an incredible breakthrough in microbiology research. Their miracle antimicrobial, named "Microsafe", has projected projected future sales of $30 BILLION annually.

"SBAM - The Next Starbucks": Subject 4943
This company sells coffe beans in La Jolla and diapers in Russia, while its sister company did telephone sales of SBAM's stock - until it was suspended. The CEO has had endless legal difficulties at all levels, but remains unincarcerated, and denies published rumors of Russian Mafia connections, while claiming that US federal agents burst into his home and killed both his parents!

Finally, may I draw your attention to an inspired parody thread begun by Steve Susko:
Subject 12634
His strategy makes Albanian Ponzi schemes seem like sensible, conservative investments! Steve's brilliant satire is worthy of Paul Krassner's The Realist- you can never quite tell which of the posts are for real.

Peace,
Droog
