Do you or any of your friends actually think we'll ever get a theocracy in this country? No, I don't. However, there is a substantial and well-funded minority that is openly dedicated to dumping the principal of religious freedom and imposing their religion and their social views on the rest of the country. I think they need to be watched carefully and resisted at all levels. As long as thinking people do this there is no chance of a theocratic government here. I also get a little upset that the Republican Party, which produces the only fiscal conservatives we're ever likely to see elected, ends up writing so much Christian-right baggage into the platform.
