Tony,>>>The main engine in this particular IBM threat-to-Sun attack is not Intel but a 24-processor RS/6000 server that will start at around $300,000, running on their 266 MHz Power processor (must be a typo). The 24 processor machine runs Unix or Linux. Smaller Intel based machines will also be intro'd. <<<

Isn't this an IBM threat to IBM. I know I sound like a broken record, but what does a system 390 do that these systems can't do? Give me one real world example. Play chess? Run complex simulation models? Maintain large databases? Provide transaction processing to a large number of users?

Give me one good reason why anyone should buy an AS400 (other than an upgrade) when they could get one of these or an Intel based system?

Mary
