Franz, there are many people on this thread better qualified to give you a comprehensive answer to your questions, but I'll try to give you a starting point for your dd:

How serious a threat is TDMA to CDMA?

You've got it backwards. TDMA is a legacy technology that is being threatened by CDMA.

How difficult is it for CDMA suppliers to change to TDMA?

No one would do that. CDMA is more expensive to deploy, but much more cost effective once in place.

Who looks like the winner (most users) in the short and long run?

TDMA and GSM, the European version of TDMA, have the most subscribers by far, but CDMA's adoption rate is much higher, which indicates they are winning the battle.
