I believe you incorrect about the legality of the Indonesian occupation of East Timor.

I actually didn't say that the Indonesian occpuation of East Timor was legal. But I agree I should have been clearer. What I thought I said was simply that it was an accepted fact by most of the world. Legally, Taiwan is not an independent country and Tibet is. When it comes to international politics, there is a wide gap between what is legal and what is accepted. The difference, as somebody pointed out, between de facto and de jure. East Timor was part of Indonesia de facto, but not de jure. I agree with you there.
