What this assorted band of frauds, quacks, and hoodlums had in common was they taught us to think we are nothing but animals that have no souls.

Why DeSade and Rousseau in the same breath? They were both emotionalists and sensualists who were dismissive of the institutions of their day and sought their destruction.

Do we really need to dissect Big Sig?

Margaret Mead was one of the biggest frauds ever perpetrated on academe. She found a willing and gullible audience when she returned from Samoa with her tales of naked brown people running around and having sex on a whim under a palm tree. The truth was, there were strict mores on courtship and marriage, monogamy was the norm. They weren't that different from us. Mead wanted to project her own ideas of how she wished they were, and academe and the public were hearing what they wanted to hear.
