>>Why do they print this stuff?<<<
I assume "they" print it because those were the numbers released in the report. Would you rather "they" have lied and printed better numbers?

Now hear this!!!!

Despite our love affair with three decimal points of precision in spreadsheets, there simply aren't consistent, meaningful numbers to measure software.

Just because we put man on the moon 30 years ago says nothing at all about out ability to realistically measure software...that's something decades in the future.

For some reason that still escapes me, people seem to believe that somewhere there are numbers about software. Well, guess what, you can count them on the fingers on one hand...Capers Jones, Howard Rubin, maybe Gartner Group <gag>...pretty much end of list. And since what their numbers show isn't pretty, they get dismissed as "consultants out to make a buck."

But somehow the media just hasn't caught on to this dirty little secret about software & systems...there simply ain't no common yardstick. Period!!!!
