PW, I've also restored my Compaq Presario. The MS Word 97 did not restore and a support technician - after going away for some help - walked me through adding some code to make the Word restoration work. They also claim the restore only works on Compaqs. The eMachine restore CD says 'will not function with other computer system'. It's understandable when I think about it. Gottfried
