Jeff, let me know how you like the Katadyn... We're enjoying our "Berkie" and what was more amazing was that it passed my wifes discerning tastes (she drinks bottled water). I found when I first used it though, that you needed to run several batches of water through it to clear out any residual dust left in the ceramic filters when they were ground to shape. Either way, you'll never have to pack drinking water with you again when you go camping. Regards, Ron
