Sorry to intrude, but I've got a dumb question or two....I have an old HP4P Flatbed scanner that I tried to use on my new system and had so much fun, I've decided not to proceed....however, the process has left behind a few dingleberries that I would like to clean up.

First, the installation process did not complete, and therefore I could not use "ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS" to remove the offending partially installed software.

Second, I have removed everything that it installed that it will let me remove except for the C:\PAPERPORT file it created and three files within it that it says I cannot remove because they are shared with something else(but it doesn't tell me what).

Third, I could live with those files being there, but now every time I boot, I get a message that demands my attention (the boot stops until I hit the "enter" key) that says that the Paperport software was not properly installed (ain't that just so special?).

I think the instructions are probably in the Config.sys or Autoexec.bat files but I forget how to access them and edit them and that is the help I'm hoping you can provide.

The system is a NEC yadda yadda plain vanilla with Win95
