G'day all - hi Steve, I heard the flip flop too. Since you are more intimate with every aspect of Indonesia, it is encouraging to see a glimpse of hope in your post. I agree with everything you said, like scapegoats, but I am less optimistic about cahnge in Jakarta - ok, this is relative, I do feel and hope the carnage in E Timor will subside - because there is not enough catalysts and agents in the mix. Therefore, the [real] power structure in Jakarta will be unscathed. Still, if E Timor can gain humanitarian and political grounds, it is the least of all evil and the best of all possible worlds.
