Briand, I did some analysis of the GBLX/FRO when the triangular saga was heating. I did not like the GBLX then. They may have a better long term prospects with FRONTIER acquisition.

I am convinced that a 21st century carrier must have customers both business and residential in order to succeed. With USWEST acquisition QWEST will have total of 30 million customers, that will lead to acceleratin EPS. Wholesale business model of GBLX will get canninablized as you have read in Barrons. If you have the customers, you create your own demand for bandwidth and do creative bundling to attract customers.

What I like about QWEST is that Joe saw the necessity for creating demands for the bandwidhth and pipes earlier and entered into ASP(appl.serv.Prov) market big time by parnering with MSFT,HWP, SAP, KPMG and others. This is the KEY differentiation between the QWEST and other so called new carriers. Another major factor is that they have COMPLETED their network and have a great joint venture in Europe with KPN again creating demand for bandwidth here from european customers. These are all the reasons they will do well.

Bellsouth is another excellant partner with QWEST as they are promoting QWEST prodcts to BLS customers.

GBLX might be a BUY here as it has come down significantly but QWEST should outperform everybody in telecom. WCOM is another great company in business customer area.
