Thread: Recently, on another thread, I asked if
cancer is the best target for gene therapy right
now--what do you folks have to say?

Lately there has been more discussion of vectors,
but are the problems associated with perfecting
a vector--making it less immunogenic--really much
of a problem if transfecting CTLs** in a petri dish,
maybe not? I think you know where I am going with
this... If an infusion of CTLs cured a cancer,
who cares if you cant use that particular vector
again later. I understand this loops back around
to the GvH/GvL--just trying to stimulate some
discussion.

Would it be useful to sort the in vivo trials from
the in vitro trials? How do you fellas classify a gene
therapy trial when you hear about one?

I've read that restoring function of a missing gene--
restoring levels of a single protein is where the first
successes will be in Gene Therapy--hemophilia, CF etc.
And yet I count up the trials and most are for cancer.

Finally, what do MAbs have to do with Gene Therapy?
