Well I know what Roader gettin' at. When things get nasty or slow
with IDEC I start talking about something else :o(.
You aren't alone with that buy... I picked some up as well and bought
some GCR. I don't think we've seen the bottom yet on IDEC for
some reason. Seems like the downwards momentum is still pretty good but,
I did it anyway as we can always be patient and you know how this
one can turn around.
SmithKline certainly has sold the lion's share in the past. I am curious
as to why they would be doing this with such abandon. Is this a common
occurance among biotechs which have investments in each other? I am
not worried about it or I wouldn't be buying, obviously, and because
there has been a great deal of knowledge shared here on the company and
I am very comfortable with all that I have personally heard from and
about this company but, I'd just like to know so I can interpret these
events in the future. Right now I look at it the same way I look at
insider sales although these are not insider sales... that is: I feel
they are obviously not the same thing but I interpret their meaning as
being similar in that it is not good news but, it is not necessarily
bad news. There are many reasons why an insider might sell a stock which
are quite independent of whether or not that insider feels the stock will
move up in the near term. The insider may simply need the money and need
it soon for something as harmless as his daugher's college tuition.
Buying is a different matter though. I figure an insider usually only
buys because he likes the stock. That's a similarity I see with this
activity. Not good news but, not necessarily bad.
So... SmithKline's activity... not worried about but would like the
reason identified anyway. Maybe I'll learn something about biotechs.
