I consider myself somewhat of a liberal. I often, but not always agree with statements made by the Democratic party. By calling liberals socalist, you implied that I was socialist as well. I very well can dispute the connection beytween the American left and communism, socialism, marxism, etc. My point still stands that by assuming that connection, in today's society you are demonizing the views of liberals. I will give an example: In my state (Virginia) there is currently a debate between liberals and conservatives concerning the use of taxes for schools. Many liberals feel that it is our primary priority to invest in schools in order to maintain an informed society. Many conservatives argue that society would best be served by returning this taxes to the people so that they can invest it as they see fit. Both sides have the good of society in mind and neither is evil. The liberals are not in fact socialists and the conservatives are not anachists. They are simply two groups with differences in values and economic policy. By labelling them anything else, no one is served. The labels of Socialism and Anarchism have no place in such a debate. That is my point.
