. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .Welcome all lurking guests. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Welcome to Silicon Investor and to the HOME thread.

You are in the right place for Position Trading and Swing Trading. This is not necessarily a daytrading thread, as we are typically not scalpers. . . We hold long portfolios long. . . and short the dogs when we stumble on them.

We are fortunate to have with us some of the brightest trading minds anywhere in investment cyberspace. Please allow me some time to introduce some of our most valued contributors.

WILLIAM JEPSEN

20+ year trading veteran, William Jepsen leads the undervalued gem sleepers. . . he buys 'em low. . .holds 'em long. . .and sells 'em when they pop. His calls often yield 200, 300 and 400+ percent gains. . .for those with the patience to wait it out. A few of his most recent calls include MTEK, FCSE and PARA.

William alerted us to the lows on these and many others. We take original positions, then when momentum begins, add to this position. . .which has far less risk than if we were to start a position at the higher price. And as the daytraders hit these stocks with volume, we are safely exiting with some major gains. William was written up in Fortune Magazine for his trading skills. . .and is best noted for calling the bottom on oil, making many large investors big bucks as they played the futures market along with William. His market views are extremely important to the HOME thread.

KEVIN SHEA

Our resident Technical Analyst, Kevin Shea helps us find the bottoms on our position trades. Using custom scans and proprietary chart reading techniques, he has developed an amazingly accurate system for determining the turnaround point of recent Initial Public Offerings. We rely heavily on this info, for taking initial positions in these IPO's. His contributions in reading the markets have become valuable to many here. Kevin adds a conservative balance to William's and my stock selections. He doesn't pick stocks often, but when he does. . .everyone listens.

Regular posters, like RockNJ, Kaliico, DlphOracle, Kevin Thompson and HandsOn have made some tremendous contributions to the thread in recent weeks. And there are many great contributors that I apologize for not singling out. All investor/traders are welcome to contribute here. I am so proud of the talented traders that have called this place HOME.

As we grow, we gain talented contributors. As such, we will soon be focusing our abilities in a radically different online investing forum [led by a team of very talented trading specialists], called "Insighters.com", slated for an October 1 opening.

NOTE: We are all individual traders and are not licensed brokers nor are we registered financial advisors. We post our opinions only. We do not give advice, nor do we tell anyone to buy or sell any stock. But within our rights as private investors, we certainly kick some major booty by expressing our opinions, ideas, predictions and analysis.

Please send your email address to me at Rande@writeme.com and I will make sure you are notified when Insighters.com goes online. The HOME thread will hopefully stay open, and we plan to continue posting here on Silicon Investor long after the new site opens . . .

RANDE IS. . .

As for me, I don't "call" stocks. I make predictions. I accurately predicted the tops in internet/high tech sector twice this year, saving many traders tons 'o dough; as we sold near the highs and reloaded during the summer doldrums, which I also predicted. If you search this subject only under "Rande Predictions" you will see some of those predictions from the past 3 months. I trade with conviction, according to my predictions. . .posting my trades as I am able.

Likewise, I called the bottom of gold to the day this summer. Many investors were able to cash in big on the bounce as we loaded our boats with baskets of gold stocks. . .yielding an average of about 25% in two-weeks.

Some of my most lucrative position trades have included TUNE [now LDIG] from $4.50 to $60. . .BAMM from $2.75 to $45. . .SIEB from $11 to $70. . .. .while my most recent picks include HLIT at $84. . LQID at $18-$22. . .ADAP in the mid-teens [as CMIC]. . FCM near 2 1/2. . .ETYS at $45. . .ADFC around $11. . .MMPT at $22. . .BBY at $53 . .etc. etc. . . We made "outpacers" watch lists this summer as the market turned and are now reaping the fruits of our collective labor.

My Long Portfolio 1.0 Year-To-Date is up 159%, which rivals the best performance of Mutual Funds. Likewise, my Long Port 1.1 is up 229% in just 9 months. These can also be searched on this thread, but must be accessed via the "Classic" SI. The combination of our big money in such long portfolios while our speculative money is busy at work in swing and position trades. . have served us quite well over the 9 months of the HOME thread.

TRADING ACTIVITIES

The HOME thread [in all forms] is NOT a site where stocks are "called" and suddenly daytraders jump on the bandwagon. . .the stock spikes. . the daytraders sell and the inexperienced investors are left holding the bag. Neither "Pump and Dump", nor "Bash and Cash" is welcome here, nor are scammers, paid hypsters, stock-touters or bashers. We don't go from stock thread to stock thread hyping or bashing, and consider this behavior childish, selfish and rude.

When we start a position in a stock, we do it slowly, called a SAM [Stealth Accumulation Mode]. We generally buy, when stocks are sitting on their 52-week lows. . . then trade the stock up and down as we accumulate [to add liquidity]. . .until momentum occurs. . .

We spend long hard hours researching companies and industries, to pick the best-of-the-best. And it is through our ability to pick the truly great companies for our long-termers and position trades, that we on the HOME thread have been rewarded most.

Aside from trading and internet websites. . . I am in the process of writing 2 or more online interactive training books for new traders, which will be published online. And shortly thereafter, I will be releasing a hardback book that provides special insights into online trading.

It is important to remember this. . .Unlike many that come and go on these boards, we are mature [though young] dedicated trader/investors, here for the long haul.

I hope to hear from each and every lurker this week to my email address: Rande@writeme.com . . . and once again, welcome!
