lqid - the market for internet music looks like it may be huge; a forecast i did in 1994 projected as much as 5% of music downloaded by the year 2001, and the industry in the u.s. at about $25 billion then -- so there could be $1 billion in music sold via the net in a few years

i think liquid audio figures in that food chain as one of the technology pieces; although i also see mp3.com (mppp),as a traffic site, with a chance to get there with its large number of users

mp3.com is more of an aggregator whereas liquid audio is a technology for distributing music digitally (what mp3 the format would be)

liquid audio has embraced the record companies (who now control music for the most part) with its built-in copyright protection and it also can probably accomodate mp3 and other formats if it chooses in the future

the challenge will be making liquid audio's technology a standard of some sort, getting enough record companies and technology companies on the platform

sept 3 a slew of releases from some of the better-known labels were released using liquid audio
