I'm reminded of the towns that sprang from nowhere in the old wild west, populated with those get-rich-quick prospectors that used it, abused it and deserted it on their never-ending journey for that elusive mother lode.

Now, as the tumble weeds dance across the deserted plains once abuzz with covered wagons, a wayward traveler arrives, pays his due, and moves on to parts unknown. Be they cubicle bound paper-pushers, purveyors of pontification, white knights or unrequited lovers, they all take a moment to reflect on their lifelong quest for the holy grail. They know they are not alone. They know they are welcome here.

As they drive away in their rented cars they wonder how grand it must have been to be alive back then. If they only knew.
