Health Sense Selects Radio from World Wireless Communications for New Health Care Product
Small, Easily Integrated 900 MicroPulse(TM) Improves Incontinence Health Care Management
SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE--Sept. 13, 1999-- World Wireless Communications, Inc. (OTC BB: WWWC), a leading developer and manufacturer of wireless communications and Internet technology and products, Monday announced that Health Sense Inc., a California-based health care company, has selected the World Wireless 900 MicroPulse digital radio for its health care management systems.
The 900 MicroPulse will be incorporated into the REDEEM(TM) system from Health Sense. The radios will transmit data from patients to a central computer system, alerting caregivers of incontinent episodes and storing data in a central database. Using the data transmitted by the radio, caregivers are able to track episode patterns and ultimately restore patient continence.
Health Sense began shipping the REDEEM system with the MicroPulse on Sept. 1.
''The 900 MicroPulse will drastically improve the way health care facilities treat incontinence,'' said Bob Oosdyke, president of Health Sense Inc. ''The World Wireless radio gives us the ability to transmit information quickly and easily without the cost of hard wiring.''
Specifically designed for manufacturers who want to incorporate wireless technology into their products, the 900 MicroPulse is battery powered and transmits data up to 300 feet. Other applications of the 900 MicroPulse include sensor monitoring and control, security systems, inventory controls, heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) controls and agriculture controls.
The radio also comes with a complete set of software tools to speed integration.
''Our 900 MicroPulse is helping to pave the way for new applications of wireless technology in the healthcare industry,'' said David Singer, president and chief executive officer, World Wireless. ''The radio is simple to integrate and has a low power consumption - ideal for companies like Health Sense who want to quickly incorporate wireless technology into their products.''
