Ah, but you ignore the fact that I say it could be an ability created within us that only reacts to the changes of our environment. Along the same lines H.G. Wells had thought of concerning the futuristic morlocks. If the human race moved underground, it would evolve into a species with heightened senses of hearing and smell while sight, being unnecessary, would atrophy within the species.
